Στους Guy Verhofstadt και Daniel Cohn-Bendit απονεμήθηκε το βραβείο
του «Ευρωπαίου Ηγέτη 2013» μετά από αρκετές εβδομάδες ηλεκτρονικής
ψηφοφορίας, η οποία πραγματοποιήθηκε ενόψει του φόρουμ «State of the
European union».Παρουσιάζοντας το βραβείο, ο πρόεδρος της κριτικής επιτροπής, Bernard Vergnes, σημείωσε ότι η ηγεσία είναι μια σύνθετη και πολυδιάστατη έννοια. «Ψάχνουμε κάποιον τον οποίο θα επέλεγαν οι άνθρωποι να ακολουθήσουν, κάποιον που όλοι θα θέλαμε να παίξει έναν μεγαλύτερο ευρωπαϊκό ρόλο στο μέλλον», είπε.
Οι Verhofstadt και Cohn-Bendit, ηγέτες των Φιλελευθέρων και των Πρασίνων στο Ευρωπαϊκό Κοινοβούλιο, έχουν ασκήσει μεγάλες πιέσεις για μια μεγαλύτερη Ένωση που θα έχει κυβέρνηση και έναν ξεχωριστό προϋπολογισμό για την ευρωζώνη.
Στο πρόσφατο βιβλίο-μανιφέστο τους, «Για την Ευρώπη!» (For Europa!) το οποίο δημοσιεύθηκε το περασμένο έτος, αναφέρονται στο όραμά τους, τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες της Ευρώπης. Υποστηρίζουν ότι το έθνος-κράτος, σε συνδυασμό με την έλλειψη αποφασιστικότητας του Ευρωπαϊκού Συμβουλίου και του Συμβουλίου των Υπουργών, ανήκουν στο παρελθόν και πιστεύουν ότι η Κομισιόν πρέπει να εξελιχθεί το συντομότερο δυνατό σε μια πραγματική ευρωπαϊκή κυβέρνηση, η οποία θα ελέγχεται από ένα Ευρωπαϊκό Κοινοβούλιο με ενισχυμένες εξουσίες.
«Αυτό που είναι αξιοσημείωτο είναι ότι ο Guy Verhofstadt και ο Daniel Cohn-Bendit δεν κέρδισαν μόνο, αλλά κέρδισαν με απόλυτη πλειοψηφία των ψήφων -περισσότερες ψήφους από όλους τους άλλους μαζί» δήλωσε ο David Earnshaw -επικεφαλής της Burson-Marsteller, η οποία διεξήγαγε την ηλεκτρονική ψηφοφορία- στο πλαίσιο του φόρουμ «State of the European Union».
Συνυποψήφιοι για το φετινό βραβείο ήταν και άλλοι εξέχοντες Ευρωπαίοι. Αυτοί ήταν ο Mario Draghi, Πρόεδρος της Ευρωπαϊκής Κεντρικής Τράπεζας, ο Jean-Claude Juncker, Πρωθυπουργός του Λουξεμβούργου, η Viviane Reding, Αντιπρόεδρος της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής και ο Donald Tusk, Πρωθυπουργός της Πολωνίας. Οι τρεις τελευταίοι είναι οι επικρατέστεροι υποψήφιοι για την προεδρία της Κομισιόν.
Το αποτέλεσμα της ψηφοφορίας «δείχνει μια αδιαμφισβήτητη απαίτηση για περισσότερη Ευρώπη, μια Ευρώπη που θα ανταποκρίνεται στις ανάγκες των πολιτών, και μια Ευρώπη που θα ξεπεράσει τη λιτότητα - γρήγορα», πρόσθεσε ο Earnshaw.

ReplyDeleteAt an awards ceremony in Brussels tonight at an annual event on the State of the European Union, ALDE group leader, Guy Verhofstadt and his Green group counterpart, Daniel Cohn-Bendit were awarded this year's European leadership award. The organising forum brings together Europe's senior executives from the European Executive Council, Business schools, consultancy firms and PR companies.
At an awards ceremony in Brussels tonight at an annual event on the State of the European Union, ALDE group leader, Guy Verhofstadt and his Green group counterpart, Daniel Cohn-Bendit were awarded this year's European leadership award. The organising forum brings together Europe's senior executives from the European Executive Council, Business schools, consultancy firms and PR companies.
The Verhofstadt / Cohn-Bendit nomination won an absolute majority of the public vote from a list of nominees including Mario Draghi, Jean-Claude Juncker and Donald Tusk. Last year's winner was Mario Monti.
Nominees were selected for their strong commitment to the European project and their ability to bring about change in Europe.

Cohn-Bendit prend la défense de Barroso....
ReplyDeleteCible du gouvernement français depuis plusieurs jours, le président de la Commission Européenne (CE) José Manuel Barroso a reçu le soutien aujourd'hui de l'eurodéputé vert Daniel Cohn-Bendit. Ce dernier appelant à ne pas "exagérer" les critiques envers le responsable européen.
«Le compte en Suisse de Cahuzac, ce n'est pas Barroso. Les difficultés du gouvernement à mettre en place sa politique, ce n'est pas Barroso. Le made in France qui ne marche pas, ce n'est pas Barroso» a ainsi déclaré Daniel Cohn-Bendit sur Europe 1, tout en dénonçant une "incapacité politique de la Commission" dans certains domaines.
Depuis sa critique violente de la France, la qualifiant de "réactionnaire" dans sa volonté d'oter le secteur audiovisuel des négociations commerciales avec les États-Unis, le président de la Commission a essuyé une surenchère de critiques. Les plus récentes émanant du ministre du Redressement productif Arnaud Montebourg (Barroso est le "carburant du FN") et du président de l'Assemblée Nationale Claude Bartolone, qui a qualifié mercredi le dirigeant européen d'"homme dépassé".
