"NOUS SOMMES TRÈS, TRÈS INQUIETS"
Le journaliste pakistanais interroge alors M. Kerry sur les allégations de violences de militaires égyptiens contre des manifestants. "Oh, non. Cela n'est pas rétablir la démocratie et nous sommes très, très inquiets [...]. Nous avons dit clairement que c'était absolument inacceptable, a réagi le ministre. L'histoire de l'Egypte n'est pas encore terminée. Nous devons voir comment les choses se déroulent dans les prochains jours."
Mercredi, le département d'Etat avait appelé les autorités égyptiennes à respecter la liberté de rassemblement après qu'elles eurent ordonné à la police de mettre fin aux sit-in des partisans du président déchu Mohamed Morsi. Les Etats-Unis restent dans l'embarras vis-à-vis de l'intervention de l'armée, une action qu'ils n'ont pas qualifiée de "coup d'Etat". Cela les aurait obligés à interrompre l'aide militaire et économique conséquente qu'ils versent à l'Egypte.

ReplyDeleteΟ επικεφαλής της αμερικανικής διπλωματίας, ο οποίος πραγματοποιεί επίσημη επίσκεψη στο Πακιστάν, ρωτήθηκε από ένα ιδιωτικό τηλεοπτικό κανάλι για την στάση που τηρούν οι ΗΠΑ απέναντι στην κρίση της Αιγύπτου μετά την ανατροπή του Μόρσι, στις 3 Ιουλίου.
"Εκατομμύρια άνθρωποι ζητούσαν από τον στρατό να παρέμβει. Όλοι φοβόντουσαν ότι (η χώρα) θα βυθιζόταν στο χάος και τη βία", είπε ο Κέρι μιλώντας στο κανάλι Geo. ReplyDeleteUS-Außenminister John Kerry hat den Sturz der demokratisch gewählten Regierung Ägyptens durch die Armee als Entscheidung im Sinne des Volkes gerechtfertigt. "Das Militär wurde von Millionen und Abermillionen Menschen zum Einschreiten gebeten, die allesamt Angst davor hatten, in Chaos und Gewalt abzugleiten", sagte Kerry einem Fernsehsender während eines Besuches in Pakistan.
Das Militär habe nicht dauerhaft die Macht an sich gerissen. Vielmehr werde Ägypten inzwischen von einer zivilen Übergangsregierung geführt. "Letztlich wurde dadurch die Demokratie wiederhergestellt", sagte Kerry.
"Absolut nicht hinnehmbar"
Auf den Einwand eines Fernsehjournalisten, dass das ägyptische Militär nach der Entmachtung des islamistischen Präsidenten Mohammed Mursi demonstrierende Anhänger der Muslimbruderschaft erschossen habe, entgegnete Kerry: "Das hat mit der Wiederherstellung von Demokratie nichts zu tun, und wir sind sehr, sehr besorgt." Er stehe in Kontakt mit allen beteiligten Kräften in Ägypten und habe "klar gemacht, dass so etwas absolut nicht hinnehmbar ist und nicht passieren darf".
Über die Frage, ob es sich bei dem Umsturz in Ägypten um einen Militärputsch handelte, streiten Experten bis heute. Die US-Regierung ordnet den Machtwechsel offenbar nicht so ein, und das möglicherweise auch deshalb, weil sie ansonsten die Militärhilfe für Kairo gemäß geltendem US-Recht hätte einfrieren müssen.

Kerry says US, others working to bring Egypt parties together ...
ReplyDeleteLONDON - The United States and other nations are working hard to bring Egypt's parties together to find a peaceful resolution to the current crisis, US Secretary of State John Kerry said on Friday.
"Egypt needs to get back to a new normal, it needs to restore stability, to be able to attract business and put people to work," Kerry said before a meeting with United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed in London.
"We will work very very hard together with others, in order to bring parties together to find a peaceful resolution that grows the democracy and respects the rights of everybody."
