Οι εκτελέσεις αμάχων αλλά και αιχμαλώτων στρατιωτών κατά τη διάρκεια των δύο και πλέον ετών του εμφυλίου στη Συρία δεν είναι κάτι πρωτόγνωρο, ωστόσο οι εικόνες αυτές δείχνουν το πραγματικό πρόσωπο του πολέμου.
Οι επτά αιχμάλωτοι στρατιώτες, δεμένοι και με το πρόσωπό τους στο χώμα, περιμένουν τρομοκρατημένοι το τέλος τους.
Από πάνω τους οι αντάρτες απαγγέλουν ένα ποίημα με συμβολικό νόημα. «Για 50 χρόνια, είναι σύντροφοι στη διαφθορά. Ορκιζόμαστε στο Αρχοντα του Θρόνου, αυτός είναι ο όρκος μας: Θα πάρουμε εκδίκηση». Ο αρχηγός της αντάρτικης ομάδας με το προσωνύμιο «Ο Θείος», πυροβολεί τον πρώτο αιχμάλωτο στο κεφάλι. Οι υπόλοιποι αντάρτες ακολουθούν το πρόσταγμα του.
Τα πτώματα ρίχνονται όπως-όπως σε έναν ομαδικό τάφο και το έγκλημα ολοκληρώνεται.
Το βίντεο, σύμφωνα με την New York Times, τραβήχτηκε τον περασμένο Απρίλιο από έναν πρώην αντάρτη ο οποίος διέφυγε από τη Συρία.

Σύμφωνα με το δημοσίευμα, οι σκληρές εικόνες φωτίζουν μια σκοτεινή μέχρι τώρα πτυχή του πολέμου στη Συρία, τις μεθόδους και τις τακτικές που χρησιμοποιούν οι λεγόμενοι αντικαθεστωτικοί, που δεν διαφέρουν και πολύ από εκείνες του καθεστώτος Ασαντ.
Καθώς οι γερουσιαστές και οι βουλευτές του αμερικανικού Κογκρέσου ετοιμάζονται να ψηφίσουν επί του σχεδίου στρατιωτικής επέμβασης που έχει καταρτίσει η κυβέρνηση Ομπάμα, δεν είναι λίγοι εκείνοι που εκφράζουν σοβαρές επιφυλάξεις για την υποστήριξη των ομάδων των ανταρτών.
- Μιλώντας ενώπιον της Επιτροπής Εξωτερικών Σχέσεων της Βουλής των Αντιπροσώπων, την Τετάρτη, ο υπουργός Εξωτερικών των ΗΠΑ, Τζον Κέρι, επέμεινε ότι «μια πραγματικά μετριοπαθής αντιπολίτευση υπάρχει».

G20 'divided' on Syria as US envoy Power criticises Russia...
ReplyDeleteG20 leaders were divided over Syria at the end of the first day of their Russian summit, as the US envoy to the UN showed her frustration at Moscow.
Italian PM Enrico Letta said the splits were confirmed at a working dinner.
At the UN, US ambassador Samantha Power accused Russia of holding the Security Council hostage by repeatedly blocking resolutions.

Brutality of Syrian rebels posing dilemma in West...
ReplyDeleteThe Syrian rebels posed casually, standing over their prisoners with firearms pointed down at the shirtless and terrified men.
The prisoners, seven in all, were captured Syrian soldiers. Five were trussed, their backs marked with red welts. They kept their faces pressed to the dirt as the rebels' commander recited a bitter revolutionary verse.
"For fifty years, they are companions to corruption," he said. "We swear to the Lord of the Throne, that this is our oath: We will take revenge."
The moment the poem ended, the commander, known as "the Uncle," fired a bullet into the back of the first prisoner's head. His gunmen followed suit, promptly killing all the men at their feet.
This scene, documented in a video smuggled out of Syria a few days ago by a former rebel who grew disgusted by the killings, offers a dark insight into how many rebels have adopted some of the same brutal and ruthless tactics as the regime they are trying to overthrow.
As the United States debates whether to support the Obama administration's proposal that Syrian forces should be attacked for using chemical weapons against civilians, this video, shot in April, joins a growing body of evidence of an increasingly criminal environment populated by gangs of highwaymen, kidnappers and killers.
The video also offers a reminder of the foreign policy puzzle the United States faces in finding rebel allies as some members of Congress, including Sen. ReplyDeleteLe "New York Times" diffuse une vidéo filmée en avril 2012 qui montre des rebelles assassinant des soldats de l'armée régulière.
La vidéo date de 2012 et pourrait bien relancer le débat sur le soutien apporter aux rebelles syriens. Diffusée par le "New York Times" (attention, les images peuvent choquer) tournée près de Idlib (nord du pays, près d'Alep) en avril 2012, elle montre des rebelles exécuter des prisonniers, en récitant un poème sur le thème de la vengeance.
Sur le film, on voit des rebelles syriens installés derrières sept prisonniers, des membres de l'armée régulière, attachés, face contre terre, le dos zébré par les coups. Leurs armes sont ostensiblement pointées sur leurs têtes. "Depuis 40 ans ils sont les compagnons de la corruption", explique le commandant, connu sous le nom de "l'oncle". Abdul Samad Issa de son vrai nom, continue sa litanie, se posant en juge et bourreau, accusant les soldats de l'armée régulière de "ne pas avoir de religion, ni de morale". Davutoğlu condemns executions by Syrian rebels, but warns of 'propaganda tactics'...
ReplyDeleteTurkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has publically condemned the executions committed by al-Qaeda-linked Syrian rebel groups, reported in Time and Paris Match magazines Sept. 14. He warned however about “propaganda tactics” aiming to delegitimize the opposition by using these reports.
“The photographs published today in the press have to be violently condemned. [These actions] can’t be excused. It is out of the question for us to show double standards to such incidents,” Davutoğlu said, during a press conference with visiting Canadian counterpart John Baird in Istanbul on Sept. 14.
“But starting from this point of view, attempts at casting a shadow on the Syrian people’s rightful struggle as if all rebel forces were [carrying out similar executions] is a propaganda tactic. We condemn the methods of the extremist groups. However, it is not an excuse for the [causes of] the death of innocent civilians,” he added.

Près de la moitié des rebelles syriens sont des islamistes durs...
ReplyDeleteDes jihadistes et des islamistes membres de groupes extrémistes forment près de la moitié des forces rebelles qui combattent le régime syrien, selon des extraits d'une étude conduite par l'institut britannique de défense IHS Jane's, publiés lundi par le Daily Telegraph.
Cette analyse, qui doit être publiée cette semaine, estime à quelque 100 000 le nombre de rebelles engagés dans le combat contre le régime du président Bachar al-Assad, selon le quotidien britannique.
Mais ces combattants se sont divisés en près de 1000 groupes différents depuis que la guerre civile a éclaté il y a deux ans et demi en Syrie, selon cette étude.
Les experts du IHS Jane's estiment que quelque 10 000 d'entre eux sont des jihadistes combattant au sein de groupes liés à Al-Qaïda et 30 000 à 35 000 autres sont des islamistes membres de groupes extrémistes, différents des jihadistes car uniquement centrés sur le combat en Syrie.
"L'insurrection est maintenant dominée par des groupes qui ont au moins un point de vue islamiste sur le conflit", juge Charles Lister, auteur de cette étude, cité par le journal.
"L'idée que ce sont plutôt des groupes laïcs qui dirigent l'opposition n'est juste pas confirmée", ajoute cet expert.
"Si les Occidentaux apparaissent comme n'étant pas intéressés à faire tomber Assad, les islamistes modérés vont alors probablement basculer dans le camp des extrémistes", avertit encore M. Lister.
Cette étude est basée sur des entretiens avec des combattants rebelles et des estimations des services de renseignement.
