Η προωθούμενη από τη Ρωσία και τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες ειρηνευτική διάσκεψη για τη Συρία «Γενεύη 2», που έχει ονομαστεί έτσι διότι αποσκοπεί στην υλοποίηση του σχεδίου διευθέτησης της συριακής σύγκρουσης, που είχε συμφωνηθεί στη Γενεύη στις 30 Ιουνίου του 2012, πρέπει να πραγματοποιηθεί στις 22 Ιανουαρίου στην ελβετική πόλη Μοντρέ.

ReplyDeleteThe lack of the Syrian opposition delegation formed for the Geneva-2 conference is the main obstacle for holding the forum, the Russian Foreign Ministry said. "No clarity with the arrival of the opposition to the talks in Switzerland is causing more and more concern justified. As of now, essentially namely this circumstance is the main obstacle for launching the conference, which is aimed to stop bloodshed and suffering of Syrian civilians, to find a way to resolving the long-lasting conflict in this country," Russian Foreign Ministry Press and Information Department Director Alexander Lukashevich said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Preparations for the international conference on Syria in the Swiss city of Montreux are reaching the final and very important stage. The Syrian government confirmed its participation without preliminary conditions in this important forum and provided the composition of the delegation long ago," Lukashevich said.

The agreement regarding the Iranian nuclear program, which has been reached at the Geneva negotiations with the P5+1 group, will help resolve that problem, Moscow believes.
"The joint action plan the Sextet and Iran adopted in Geneva on November 24, 2013 has fostered the settlement of one of the most complex problems in international political affairs - the Iranian nuclear program. The deal struck in Geneva lays down a solid foundation for further negotiations targeting a comprehensive solution," says a commentary of the Russian Foreign Ministry's information and press department posted on Wednesday.
"Same as before, Russia will continue doing everything in its power for the positive development of this process and the final settlement of the problem at the negotiating table," the ministry said.

ReplyDeleteПодготовка к международной конференции по Сирии в швейцарском городе Монтрё выходит на финишный, очень ответственный этап. Правительство Сирии уже давно подтвердило свое участие без предварительных условий в этом важном форуме и представило состав делегации. На этом фоне все большую и оправданную обеспокоенность вызывает неясность с приездом оппозиции на переговоры в Швейцарию. По сути, именно это обстоятельство на сегодня является главным препятствием на пути запуска конференции, которая призвана положить конец кровопролитию и страданиям мирного населения САР, проложить путь к урегулированию затянувшегося конфликта в этой стране.
В этой связи мало удивительного в том, что у ряда непримиримых оппозиционеров появляется желание переложить на других, в том числе на российскую сторону, ответственность за то, что оппозиция пока не смогла подтвердить свою готовность к участию в «Женеве-2» и не сформировала свою представительную делегацию на форум.
Хотели бы решительно отвести подобные надуманные подходы и вновь подчеркнуть, что российская сторона неизменно выступала и будет выступать за приезд в Монтрё и на последующие переговоры в Женеве максимально репрезентативной сирийской оппозиционной делегации, как это и предусматривается Женевским коммюнике от 30 июня 2012 г., подкрепленным резолюцией 2118 СБ ООН. В своих контактах с широким спектром оппозиционных структур мы неизменно высказывались и продолжаем высказываться за их представленность и учет их интересов в Женевском процессе, в ходе которого сами сирийцы должны определить будущее своей страны.

Syria's opposition NCB refuses to participate in Geneva II conference....
ReplyDeleteDAMASCUS, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Damascus-based opposition group National Coordination Body (NCB) will not attend the upcoming Geneva II conference on the crisis in Syria, a leading member of the NCB told Xinhua Wednesday.
"We will not attend the Geneva II conference because we refuse to participate under the umbrella of the Syrian National Coalition, " Safwan Akkasheh said.
Akkasheh's remarks came against the backdrop of recent calls on the NCB to participate in the peace talks under the umbrella of the Western-backed exiled Syrian National Coalition (SNC).
The NCB said earlier it would partake in the conference in a unified delegation that would group several opposition parties, but not under the SNC's umbrella.
The NCB said earlier that its demands have not been met with seriousness, such as the creation of a positive atmosphere to make the conference success.
"Here we are days ahead of the conference and we are still in a foggy situation that leads us to be the weaker part in the conference," the NCB said in a statement Wednesday.
The Geneva II Conference, slated for Jan. 22, aims to engage warring Syrian parties to seek a solution to the prolonged crisis.
