Durante un discurso en Hamburgo, Gerhard Schröder dijo que la Unión Europea optó desde el comienzo por una política errónea en las relaciones con Ucrania, proponiéndole a Kiev un acuerdo de integración con Europa, basándose en el principio de "o con nosotros, o con Rusia".
"Me pregunto si era correcto poner a una país tan dividido, en el sentido cultural, como Ucrania ante una disyuntiva: la asociación con Europa o el acuerdo aduanero con Rusia", cita al excanciller alemán el diario 'Der Spiegel'. Schröder subrayó que la UE debería permitir a Ucrania a ir en "ambas direcciones".
Además, Schröder puso en duda las intenciones de la ex primer ministra ucraniana, Yulia Timoshenko. "No sé qué intereses materiales puede tener. El peligro […] es que una gran cantidad de ayuda financiera, por la que yo abogo, puede ser dirigida a canales no apropiados", dijo.
La suspención de la firma del acuerdo de asociación con la Unión Europea provocó duras protestas en el país el pasado noviembre. Aunque políticos y expertos ucranianos argumentaron que rubricarlo no resultaría provechoso para el país, miles de personas salieron a las calles de Kiev para exigir que el presidente Yanukóvich y su Gobierno cambiaran de rumbo o dimitieran.
El 22 de febrero el Parlamento de Ucrania destituyó al presidente Yanukóvich, cambió la constitución y convocó elecciones anticipadas para el 25 de mayo. Las acciones de las autoridades autoproclamadas suscitaron la indignación de muchos ucranianos en la república autónoma de Crimea y en el Este del país. El 16 de marzo Crimea celebrará un referendo sobre la soberania de la region.

- NATO bombed Serbia illegally, Schröder admits
The 1999 NATO attack against Serbia represented a breach of the international law, Gerhard Schröder, who was German Chancellor at the time, admitted on Sunday. “The current developments in Crimea are also a breach of the international law”, Schröder said alluding to Russian military interference in Ukraine peninsula.
Speaking at the panel organized by the German weekly “Zeit” in Hamburg, Schröder, however, refrained to directly criticize Russian President Vladimir Putin. Schröder is currently the chairman of the board of Nord Stream AG, a consortium for construction of the planned Nord Stream submarine pipeline between Vyborg in Russia and Greifswald in Germany, a project initially promoted by him and Putin.
Nonetheless, Schröder admitted his responsibility for what he called the breach of international law in Yugoslav conflict. “We have sent our planes … to Serbia and together with NATO forces we have bombarded one sovereign country without the permission of United Nation Security Council, Schröder said adding that he was therefore “cautious with pointing the finger” and that both bombardment of Serbia and Russian interference in the Crimea were “formally” a breach of the UN Charter.

ReplyDeleteВ Москве обратили внимание на высказывания Постпреда США при ОБСЕ Д.Баэра на специальном заседании Постсовета ОБСЕ 7 марта с.г. Американский дипломат призвал российские власти оказать помощь в свободном посещении военными наблюдателями ряда стран-участниц ОБСЕ территории Крыма.
Удивляет сама постановка вопроса, обращенного явно не по адресу. Исходим из того, что любая мониторинговая деятельность ОБСЕ в Крыму должна согласовываться с законными крымскими властями.
Вызывает недоумение и то, что господин Баэр ни словом не обмолвился о том, что данный вопрос уже обсуждался в рамках ОБСЕ. Действительно, ряд государств-участников ОБСЕ по запросу киевского режима направил своих военных наблюдателей на Украину. В этой связи российская сторона еще 5 марта с.г. официально проинформировала все государства-участники ОБСЕ о своем отказе в посещении российских военных объектов, дислоцирующихся на территории Крымского полуострова, в силу форс-мажорных обстоятельств.
Надеемся, что американские дипломаты будут уделять больше внимания действительно опасным и непредсказуемым инцидентам, в частности, последствиям бесконтрольного распространения похищенного боевиками с военных складов оружия и боеприпасов, а также сообщениям о пропаже нескольких десятков переносных зенитно-ракетных комплексов «Игла».

ReplyDeleteNATO does not plan supplying Ukraine with the data of radar surveillance in Crimea obtained with the aid of the aircraft assigned to the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), which are due to begin flights over the territories of Poland and Romania as of Wednesday, March 12, a diplomatic source in Brussels told Itar-Tass Monday.
Earlier on the same day, NATO Council passed a decision on launching regular flights of AWACS jets for watching the situation in Crimea and in Ukraine, in line with a recommendation issued by General Philip Breedlove, NATO’s supreme allied commander for Europe.
He claimed that the radar surveillance data would make the North-Atlantic pact members more informed on the situation in Ukraine and especially in Crimea and would make it possible to get all the necessary information on movements of combat units in that region.
According to Gen Breedlove, the measure would also respond to the concerns on the part of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland about the operative situation the borders of the pact
"These flights will enhance the alliance's situational awareness and all will take place solely over alliance territory," he said.
AWACS forces report directly to the staff of NATO’s allied force in Europe, and that is why their flights can begin very soon after a decision is taken to bring them into action.
Flights will be made from bases in Britain and Germany.
Washington said earlier it was sending up to eighteen F-16 fighter jets and several refueling jets to the former Soviet Baltic republics and Poland.
