United Nations Deputy Spokesman Ferhan Haq said all states should prevent “further militarization” of the Syrian conflict over a question on Turkey’s position regarding the war-torn country.

“Asked about Turkey’s role in Syria, the Spokesperson reiterated that the Secretary-General has called on all states, including those in the region, to play a positive role and prevent the further militarization of the conflict,” a statement from the United Nations on the March 27 briefing read.

  • His remarks came after an illegal recording of a secret security meeting held at the Foreign Ministry was published on YouTube.

  • Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu slammed the act, saying that “it is tantamount to declaring war on Turkey.”

  1. Turkish FM calls leaked recordings a 'declaration of war'...

Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Thursday said that the leaking of wiretappings concerning a high level security meeting on Syria is a declaration of war.

The meeting involving high level Turkish state authorities discussing the possible threats to Turkish territory in Aleppo, Syria, was illegally recorded and those recordings subsequently leaked earlier on Thursday.

Davutoglu said infiltrating such a meeting and leaking recordings of that meeting is “a cyber-attack" on Turkey, adding ”it is obviously an attack on the Republic of Turkey and our people...Those behind it are attempting to create the perception of a weak Turkey."

He continued saying that those behind this attack would receive the heaviest possible punishment and Turkey would take measures of all sorts to protect itself............http://www.aa.com.tr/en/headline/306720--turkish-fm-calls-leaked-recordings-a-declaration-of-war
