Russia is surprised UN Secretary-General ignores attack on Russian Embassy in Kiev (Churkin)

"In fact, I was surprised a little that the Secretary General has not made such a declaration.
I hope it's just because he is away, but I will double-check, because in our understanding, every time when such situation occurs, the Secretary General should stand on the side of international law. At least it was the way it used to be," said Russia's Envoy.

He also expressed disappointment that the UN Security Council did not condemn the actions of aggressive crowd, although the Russian delegation proposed foreign counterparts a draft of the press statement. "The text has been blocked by the Lithuanian delegation," said Churkin, recalling that in accordance with the procedure such documents are accepted by common agreement.

According to the diplomat, on Monday, a lot of members of the Security Council expressed regret that they hasn’t condemned the attack on the Russian embassy, and the Permanent Representative of France even called it a mistake.
