Hellenic MFA, Tuesday, 01 July 2014:
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign
Minister Venizelos made the following response to a journalist’s
question on the framework for the resolution of the Cyprus issue:
“The negotiating framework is very simple. Everything moves – necessarily – within the framework of the relevant resolutions of the Security Council, of the European community acquis, of a bizonal, bicommunal federation, as was delineated in 1977 by Archbishop and President Makarios.

It is also obvious that we are talking about a solution that must be accepted via the free democratic expression of the Cypriot people, in a direct manner, through a referendum.”
