“Our militias have no weapon systems near Mariupol that would be able to shell that region. Our positions are simply too far away,” a spokesman for the Donetsk militia headquarters told RIA Novosti.
The comment comes after a local Ukrainian Interior Ministry official accused their opponents of shelling the city some 110 kilometers south of the militia stronghold in Donetsk, and killing at least 10 civilians.
Mariupol City Hall said the death toll was smaller, with three people reported killed.
The rocket, said to have hit a residential area, seting several cars on fire and damaging a building, is presumed to have been fired by a Grad multiple rocket launcher.
Kiev’s troops and militia forces are locked in renewed hostilities after a shaky ceasefire has utterly collapsed. Kiev launched a massive offensive last week, but failed to gain any ground. Hopes of hostilities being deescalated are slim, with officials from both sides voicing their intention to continue fighting for their respective causes.

ReplyDeleteDie ukrainische Militärführung hat der Volkswehr in Donezk vorgeworfen, in der Nacht zum Samstag östliche Vororte der von der Kiewer Armee kontrollierten Stadt Mariupol am Asowschen Meer beschossen zu haben. Dabei sollen mindestens zehn Menschen getötet worden sein, erklärte Wjatscheslaw Abroskin vom ukrainischen Innenministerium.
Die Volkswehr dementierte. „Unsere Kräfte im Raum von Mariupol verfügen nicht über Artilleriesysteme, die für den Beschuss der genannten Ortschaft hätten eingesetzt werden können – die Entfernung ist zu groß“, sagte ein Sprecher des Volkswehrstabes in Donezk.
„Wir gehen von einer Provokation der ukrainischen Militärs aus. Nach uns vorliegenden Angaben wurde aus der Siedlung Stary Krim am nördlichen Stadtrand von Mariupol geschossen“, sagte der Sprecher, der anonym bleiben wollte.

The Mariupol city department of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry had reported earlier that at least 10 civilians had been killed as Mariupol had been shelled by militants in the morning of Jan. 24. It said projectiles burst near shops and markets, where there were a lot of people at the moment.
The Ukrainian authorities blame militants for the attack. The Donetsk regional prosecutor's office qualified the shelling of residential neighborhoods in Mariupol as a terrorist attack.

At least 15 killed in rocket attack on Mariupol ...
ReplyDeleteAt least 15 people died when rockets hit Ukraine's strategic government-held port of Mariupol, the Ukrainian interior ministry has said.
The ministry in Kiev said another 46 people were injured in the attack.
Local officials had earlier put the death toll at ten.

Néanmoins, les rebelles nient leur responsabilité de ces tirs et dénoncent une "provocation" des forces de l'ordre de Kiev.

ReplyDeleteDie Kräfte der Donbass-Milizen haben in den zurückliegenden 24 Stunden eine groß angelegte Offensive an der gesamten Frontlinie gestartet. Das teilte der Kiewer Verteidigungsminister Stepan Poltorak am Samstag mit.
„Die Lage an der gesamten Frontlinie spitzt sich dramatisch zu. Von Lugansk bis hin zu Mariupol werden unsere Positionen von illegalen bewaffneten Formationen attackiert“, sagte Poltorak in einer Sitzung des operativen Stabes im Zusammenhang mit dem jüngsten Beschuss von Mariupol am Asowschen Meer.
Die Kiewer Behörden geben den Milizen die Schuld an dem Beschuss. Die Volkswehr in Donezk weist jegliche Anschuldigungen zurück und spricht von einer Provokation der ukrainischen Machthaber.

ReplyDeleteEn las últimas 24 horas los milicianos han iniciado una ofensiva de gran envergadura en Donbás, declaró este sábado el ministro de Defensa ucraniano, Stepán Poltorak.
"En total en las últimas 24 horas la situación se ha complicado gravemente en toda la línea de combate, desde la región de Lugansk hasta Mariúpol, por todas partes las unidades ilegales han lanzado una ofensiva", dijo Poltorak en una reunión del centro operativo debido al ataque contra Mariúpol.
Anunció que el bombardeo contra Mariúpol se realizó por parte de la localidad de Sajanka que se encuentra entre Mariúpol y Novoazovsk.
