Iran FM criticizes Netanyahu for trying to influence Iran negotiations

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Tuesday that Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is trying to affect negotiations over Iran's nuclear program with his upcoming address to both chambers of the US Congress.

"He's trying to, and I don't think trying to create tension and conflict helps anyone," Zarif said to CNN outside talks in Switzerland with US Secretary of State John Kerry.

  • Iran on Tuesday rejected as "unacceptable" a demand by US President Barack Obama that Tehran freeze its sensitive nuclear activities for at least 10 years, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.
"Obama's stance ... is expressed in unacceptable and threatening phrases ... Iran will not accept excessive and illogical demands ... Tehran will continue nuclear negotiations with the six powers," Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was quoted as saying by Fars.

In an interview with Reuters on Monday, Obama said Iran must commit to a verifiable halt of at least 10 years on sensitive nuclear work for a landmark atomic deal to be reached between Tehran and six major powers.

The United States and its European allies fear Iran wants to develop atomic bomb capability. Tehran says its program is for peaceful nuclear energy only.

  2. Netanyahu: Iran poses a threat to the entire world...

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Tuesday that Iran and its leaders pose a threat not only to Israel and the Middle East, but also to nations worldwide and called for action to be taken over Iran’s nuclear program.

“Iran’s founding document promises the pursuit of jihad, and states are collapsing across the Middle East,” Netanyahu declared in a rousing speech to a joint meeting of the U.S. Congress.

“We must all stand together to stop Iran’s march of conquest, subjugation and terror,” he told U.S. lawmakers.

In the most anticipated speech to the U.S. Congress by a foreign leader in years, Netanyahu said Iran’s regime was “as radical as ever,” could not be trusted and the deal being worked out with the United States would not block Iran’s way to a bomb “but paves its way to a bomb.”

“We must all stand together to stop Iran’s march of conquest, subjugation and terror,” he said................http://english.alarabiya.net/en/News/middle-east/2015/03/03/Netanyahu-to-address-Congress-in-heated-speech-.html

  4. Reaching a deal on Iran’s nuclear program would not mean an automatic rapprochement between the U.S. and the Islamic republic, the State Department said Wednesday...

"Rapprochement would indicate or would suggest some broader warming of ties where we don't have serious concerns about human rights, about terrorism, about Syria, about Hezbollah," said Marie Harf, a department spokeswoman.

U.S. officials have voiced concerns about Iran’s human rights record as well as its ties to radical groups, particularly Hezbollah, which is listed by the U.S. as a terror group and sponsored by Iran throughout the Middle East.

Washington has also cited Iran's close relationship with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad..............http://www.aa.com.tr/en/headline/474007--us-nuke-deal-doesnt-mean-rapprochement-with-iran
