Kerry urged Russia and Assad to abandon offensives in Syria

Russia should not conduct offensive actions in Syria and the responsibility to exert pressure on President Bashar al-Assad to seek a waiver of such operations. As reported Reuters, said on Monday, August 1, U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry.


“It is imperative that Russia was able to hold itself, and the Assad regime from conducting offensive operations, while our duty is to make the opposition refuse to participate in such operations”, — said Kerry.

The Secretary of state noted that Moscow and Damascus are cause for concern. “It’s important days in order to determine whether Russia and the Assad regime to adhere to [security Council resolution] UN”, — quotes its words RIA Novosti. “We’ll see in the coming hours, days, could change these dynamics. It is very difficult when both parties more willing to fight than to perform the obligations in accordance with UN security Council resolution”, he added.

Kerry also pointed to the importance of respecting the ceasefire and create conditions for the resumption of talks with the Syrian opposition in Geneva, reports TASS...

Nine persons, including four women and three children, were killed and 36 others were injured due to terrorist attacks with rocket shells and sniper fire on al-Hamadaniah and al-Ramousa and al-Akramiah neighborhoods in Aleppo city and in the area surrounding the faculty of science at Aleppo University...

    A source at Aleppo Police Command said in a statement to SANA that terrorist groups targeted the houses and the residential buildings in the neighborhoods of al-Hamadaniah and al-Ramousa with sniper fire and rocket shells, claiming the lives of four persons, three of them are women, and injuring 20 others.

    The source added that the attacks also caused material damage to public and private properties.

    Earlier, a number of rocket shells fired by terrorist groups landed in the area surrounding the faculty of science at Aleppo University, killing a student, injuring 8 others and causing material damage in the area.

    The terrorist attacks on Aleppo continued on Monday evening to hit al-Akramiah neighborhood where the terrorist group targeted it with several rocket shells leaving 3 children and a woman killed and causing huge material damage to the locals’ properties and buildings.

    In Hasaka northern province, two civilians were killed and 13 others were injured a terrorist attack with a motorcycle bomb in al-Areesheh town in the southern countryside of Hasaka.

    A source at Hasaka police command said in a statement to SANA that terrorists detonated a motorcycle bomb in the square of al-Areesheh town in al-Shaddadi to the south of Hasaka city, killing two civilians and injuring 13 others.

    The terrorist attack also caused material damage to locals’ houses and properties.....SANA
