The leader of Iran has threatened retaliation if 20-year-old sanctions against the Islamic Republic are renewed for another ten years.
The warning comes just days after the U.S. House of Representatives voted to renew for ten years the Iran Sanctions Act, which would have expired at the end of this year.
The landmark nuclear deal limits Iran's nuclear activities to deter development of a nuclear weapon in exchange for easing sanctions that weakened its economy.
It must be approved by the U.S. Senate and signed by President Obama in order to be extended.
