(Ukraine protests: live streaming unrest in Kiev. Euromaidan)

KIEV, February 18. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s acting Justice Minister Elena Lukash has placed entire responsibility for a new round of confrontation in Kiev on the leaders of the Ukrainian opposition.

“Today, opposition leaders bear personal responsibility for a new spiral of confrontation.

Their actions have imperiled civil peace and Ukraine’s future,” she said in a statement posted on the presidential website on Tuesday.

“The protest, which was announced as a peace action only yesterday, has grown into open armed clashes with extremists today,” she stressed.

“The opposition has ignored the calls of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich and the leaders of the European Union and the United States for a peaceful settlement of the conflict.

  6. Ukraine protesters confront police anew after nation's bloodiest day...

(Reuters) - Ukrainian protesters poured on to a central Kiev square on Wednesday, preparing to confront police anew after the bloodiest day since the former Soviet republic, caught in a geopolitical struggle between Russia and the West, won its independence.

After hours of clashes, police had gained ground overnight in Independence Square, center of three months of protests against President Viktor Yanukovich, and were occupying about a third of the square at 8 a.m. (0600 GMT) on Wednesday.

  7. West condemns Ukraine violence; Moscow blames West.....

BRUSSELS, Belgium -- The deadly clashes in Ukraine's capital that led to at least 25 deaths has drawn sharp reactions from Washington, generated talk of possible European Union sanctions and led to a Kremlin statement blaming Europe and the West.

Here's a roundup of some of the international reaction:

    RUSSIA
The Russian Foreign Ministry blamed the West for the escalation of violence and called on the Ukrainian opposition to work with the government to find a way out of the crisis. "What is happening is a direct result of the conniving politics of Western politicians and European bodies," the ministry said in a statement.

  8. Militants' actions in Kiev on Fe 18-19 not spontaneous, but staged - Russian diplomat....

Chairman of the Federation Council's International Affairs Committee Mikhail Margelov believes that militants' actions on Kiev streets on February 18-19 are not spontaneous, but staged.

The senator noted the common delusion that the so-called Maidan and its battle squad is not stage-managed, it is Cossak outlaws and "national power". "The very events at Grushevsky Street disproved it: the militants dealt with law enforcers’ attacks too skillfully, refilled armory of shields, casks and clubs, and added cocktail bombs to convert it into napalm. The course of street riots February 18-19 showed that the militants fight in the so-called "Halych format" — it came to gunfire, and there are fatalities on both sides. There is evident organized nature behind the fighting," Margelov believes.

n addition, he said that "after a fragile truce, the Maidan gains momentum in provinces: in Lvov, Ternopol, Ivano-Frankovsk". "They not only occupy state offices there, but storm police wards and dismantle Berkut officers," the Russian senator stated..............http://voiceofrussia.com/news/2014_02_19/Militants-actions-in-Kiev-on-Fe-18-19-not-spontaneous-but-staged-Russian-diplomat-9553/
