ReplyDeleteThe head of the International Olympic Committee has paid tribute to the victims of recent suicide bombings in the Russian city of Volgograd, as authorities remain on high alert for possible terrorist attacks at the Sochi Olympics.
Thomas Bach made his remarks during a ceremony Tuesday in an athletes compound at the Sochi Olympics village.
Bach said the ceremony is a "rebuke to those whose motives and goals stand in sharp contrast to the spirit of harmony and global solidarity" of the Sochi Games. He said people grieve for the innocent victims of conflict, especially the victims of Volgograd.
