The security officials and eyewitnesses said that Israeli jet fighters struck with four missiles at a training post that belongs to al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas movement in Gaza, no injuries were reported.
The security officials said that several Israeli army war jets hovered over the coastal enclave before striking on Hamas military post, where witnesses heard the buzz of the fighters and then heard several explosions in southern Gaza.
The airstrike on Hamas post was a response to an earlier rocket attack carried out by unknown militants into southern Israel. Israel Radio reported that the rocket hit southern Israel, causing no harms or damages.
It is the first time that Israel carried out an airstrike on Hamas training facilities since the end of the 50-day large-scale air and ground military offensive Israel waged on Gaza and ended on August 26.
The Israeli offensive left around 2,200 Palestinians dead and more than 11,000 injured. After the offensive, large destruction was significant in housing and infrastructure leaving tens of thousands of people homeless and displaced.
The offensive on the Gaza Strip ended after Egypt brokered a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Gaza Hamas-led militant groups. However, both sides had been accusing each other for violating the agreement.
