- Residents are looting Yemeni presidential compound in Aden vacated hours earlier by president, witnesses said Wednesday.
According to US State Department officials, Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi was no longer at his residence. However, the United States cannot confirm further details about his location.
"We were in touch with him earlier today," spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters at a briefing. "He is no longer at his residence. I'm not in position to confirm any additional details from here about his location."
Aides have said Hadi moved from the compound to another presidential palace in the al-Tawahi neighborhood on the other side of the city in the afternoon. It was not clear whether Hadi remained at the second palace.
